Rates
Lessons are billed month to month — there is no semester or annual commitment.

The first conversation is free: call John, describe what you (or your child) want to play, and he will tell you what he recommends.
Is there a semester minimum or contract?
No. Every student is on a month-to-month basis. Start when you are ready and stop when you need to.
How long is a lesson?
Suzuki lessons for young children are 30 minutes, and part of that is games for rhythm and coordination rather than continuous playing. [JOHN: lesson lengths offered for older kids and adults]
Where do lessons take place?
In John's home guitar studio in Mechanicsville, VA — just north of I-295 near Chamberlayne Rd (US 301), a short drive from Henrico, Hanover, Chesterfield and Richmond. No music-school lobby, no other lessons through the wall.
What should I bring to the first lesson?
Your guitar if you already have one. If you don't, come anyway — John will tell you what to buy for the music you want to play before you spend money. [JOHN: anything else: notebook, tuner, footstool for classical?]
How do I cancel or reschedule a lesson?

Do you teach instruments other than guitar?
The studio is built around guitar — acoustic, classical and electric — and John also teaches music theory, songwriting, improvisation and recording. [JOHN: confirm bass, ukulele, mandolin, banjo — they are options on the contact form]
